FC Dallas beats Galaxy, 4-0

The four-goal outburst was the most for FC Dallas since a 4-0 win over New England on May 20, 2006.

After Los Angeles routed them 5-1 here back on May 18, Dallas returned the favor, snapping a four-game winless streak.

The Galaxy (6-7-5), now winless in their last six (0-3-3), remain second in the West, missing an opportunity to move past idle Real Salt Lake into first.

Dallas opened the scoring for the first time since June 15 (a span of five MLS games) in the 15th minute, when Cooper made a nice move to cut into the middle about 20 yards out and launched an off-balance left-foot shot that bounced past diving LA goalkeeper Steve Cronin.

In the 17th, Cooper stole the ball from defender Eduardo Dominguez and raced in on a two-on-one with Oduro, before rolling a shot from 20 yards out just inside the left post.

Oduro then put Dallas ahead by three in the 36th minute, when he chased down a lead pass from Arturo Alvarez and sped in on a breakaway, faking out Cronin and depositing it into the empty net for his fifth goal of the season.

Dallas almost made it four just after halftime, as Oduro blasted a shot from 15 yards off the underside of the crossbar. Cronin then made a nice save on Cooper's header off the rebound.

The Galaxy's best opportunity to score came in the 71st minute when former Dallas star Carlos Ruiz's header, off Beckham's corner kick, struck the goalpost.

Thompson scored his third goal of the year in the 89th.
