David Beckham urges Cristiano Ronaldo to stay in Manchester

David Beckham, who was at the centre of an equally lengthy saga before leaving Manchester for Madrid for £24 million in the Summer of 2003, said Cristiano Ronaldo, his successor in the Manchester United # 7 jersey, would be making a mistake by following in his footsteps and move to Real Madrid at this stage of his career.

"I believe he's at the right club and a club he should stay at because, as much as Real Madrid are a great team and one of the biggest clubs in the world, he's only just starting at Man United, he's only been there a few years," Beckham said.

"He's got a lot of people around him who will protect him. As a fan of Man United I hope he stays there but who knows?"
